Tara Vs. Hazel

Hello friends.
New friends, old friends, family, random people from around the world who stumbled across this and probably won't read past the first paragraph, you're all friends to me.

The other day (well, no, it recently came to my attention I incorrectly use this term all the time. What I mean here is, at some point in my past, approximately between the time of my birth and now) a friend of mine posted a status on Facebook.

I wish I could remember which friend it was to find out the exact wording, but it was something that sparked a thought in my mind about the difference between ourselves, and our internet self.

Of course if you read my blog often enough, you will have figured out that I am all about looking for and finding inspiration everyday to make life more beautiful than it already is.

Who ever thought that I would find inspiration in something as ridiculous as Facebook?!

I have now thought about who my internet self is exactly, and decided that she should be someone for me to aspire too.
For contexts sake, lets call my internet self Hazel ;-)

Hazel is a wonderful girl. She has an inspirational attitude and ALWAYS has a smile on her face. All she ever talks about is sunshine and happiness.

For the most part, she seems ignorant but blissful.

Hazel is much braver than I am.
She isn't afraid to jump down peoples throats and voice her opinion if something bothers her. I know when I am in situations when something is discussed I have strong feelings about, I tend to just let things go because I am not the debating or arguing type.
I am horrid at getting my point across when talking (yet I can sit here and basically type faster than I speak, funny how the brain works huh?) Hazel manages to get all her point across fast and clear.
Bravery counts for a lot in the real world, and while in recent years, particularly the last 12 months, I am much less shy than what I was, it still pops up in certain situations.
Hazel is a good friend, she encourages me to be more outspoken, and if I need a push, she is there to break the ice for me.

She is lucky too, she is much smarter than me with that Google sized brain of hers!

I wish I had Hazel's bravery in other aspects too! If she sees something she wants, for example a dashing young gent, she isn't afraid to take him aside for a chat. She is witty, charming and gives just the right amount of cheekiness.

Hazel tends to get herself into trouble sometimes, she believes everything should be laid out on the table. All feelings, opinions and emotions.

It's absolutely safe to say Hazel is a hopeless romantic who wears her heart on her sleeve, while mine, on the other hand, may as well be tucked firmly far away in a safety deposit box in a Swiss bank.

I think Hazel and I could learn from each other; while its a good thing to be wary of letting in those who could hurt you, (and Hazel should sometimes keep her big fat mouth shut!) it's also a very risky, brave, rewarding and admirable thing to pull down that brick wall and see who is fighting to get in.

Honestly, if you're not willing to put your heart on the line and sound stupid, then you don't deserve to be in love.
At the end of the day, at least whoever is on the recieving end knows where she stands.

She always puts the ball in their court.

Since noticing the differences between Hazel and myself, I have found myself so inspired by her!

She is not afraid of consequence, because she knows not all is bad.
She puts herself out there, every thought and feeling expressed to the world or someone significant. She is beautiful, and always smiling.
She is cheeky to anybody she fancies and not afraid to show it.

I am happy Hazel came into my life.
I admire all those good traits and I know the longer I acquaint myself with her, some may just rub off on me in my real life.

Did I make you think about your internet self blogheads?

Who would you rather be?

Love Tara, with encouragement from Hazel.
xx

  1. I really liked the way this was written, Tara (et., al?)

I am all about being who you are both online and in the real world and I think that should be the same person.

I strongly believe if you are not willing to say to someones face what you are willing to say on the internet, then you should probably keep it to yourself.

HOWEVER, your take on it all made me see this from another perspective.

    Xx
